DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS
- Personalization
Gender selection in the beginning makes learners feel the animation character is tailored for themselves so that they will feel more related to the character. They character uses 2nd person conversational language "you" in the dialogues. Plus, human voice rather than machine voice was used to enhance learners' experience. Music in mathematics
- Music in mathematics
The simple song in the first session incorporates many basic concepts of proper fractions in math. Songs support primary students to learn with fun and arise students' learning motivation.
- Visualization
Students could explore by themselves via rolling the wheel in the second game, so they will have a direct visualization of specific fractions which gives them deep impression. Visualization could help students better understand abstract concepts.
- Gamification
Primary students learn through playing. So we design the game for students, only when students go through three adventures successfully, can they unlock three keys and enter to the castle. In the last challenge, students are encouraged to catch the proper fraction which assesses their understanding of the concept.
- AR-enhanced learning feedback
Receiving feedback is an important process in learning. Feedback can reinforce what has been learned and can also correct any misconceptions. The adoption of AR technology is aimed to enhance students' learning experience and offer personalized feedback.
